 Wearing the right Bra Size
Wearing the right Bra Size
According to the best plastic surgeons, wearing the right bra is mandatory for all women who have breast surgery. In any intervention, it has two main functions: on one hand, to help maintain the investment made in the body, avoiding future interventions that may arise as a result of the loss of density and firmness, and on the other hand, to take full advantage of this new image.
Specific Tips and Situations
Augmentation Mammoplasty

Breast augmentation aims to increase breast size by placing breast implants. In this type of surgery, the casing where the silicone is placed is denser than the other constituents of the breast, causing additional pressure on the skin. With the right bra, you will feel comfort and support, making it possible to support your chest right away and prevent it from slipping over time.

Reduction Mammoplasty

This intervention decreases the breast volume, while improving the shape and the general appearance of the breast. In these cases, it's essential that you wear a bra in the right size, that doesn't crush the breasts.

Mastopexy

The purpose of this surgery is to reshape and lift the breast. Consequently, after the surgery, the shape of the breast changes and, sometimes, the size too, so it is essential to understand what new size and new models of bras we should use. To neglect the use of the right size of bra, which provides the proper support to the breast, will lead the breast to drop again with the passage of time.
Specific Tips and Situations

Why invest in new bras?

The size of the bra changes every time there is a body change that justifies it. At the time of pregnancy, when you start to feel the tightness in the underwire area, or notice that the breast pops out of the cup, it is because you need to quickly re-evaluate your bra. If the breast is not well supported, it may sag and lose firmness!
The New Bra Size
The New Bra Size
Knowing which size of bra we should wear is always an issue that raises many doubts, not being an exception after breast surgery. Something especially important to take into account is that only your cup size, that is, the letter, has changed, so when buying a new bra, the size of the back (number) will not change. This, of course, assuming you were wearing the correct size before surgery. For example, if you previously wore a 32B and performed an augmentation mammoplasty, it can now be a 32D, DD, E or other, depending on the size of the implant you are placing. It will never go from a 32B to a 38B because that would be increasing the size of the back and not the cup. In order not to err in size, you should try to make an Cosmetic Bra Fitting appointment in one of our shops.

Breast Augmentation and the Right Bra

After this type of surgery, it is common to believe that you can start wearing any bra or even walk around without any, but nothing could be more wrong! The breast becomes heavier, so it is even more essential to support your weight. This is due to the health of the spine, as well as an aesthetic issue: even after surgical intervention, the breasts will continue to undergo changes and may fall again. Wearing the right bra will prevent this from happening. Until fully recovered, we recommend the use of a comfort bra, non-wired, not only during the day, but also for sleeping. In this way the extra weight will be relieved, and the chest will remain immobile, facilitating recovery from surgery. After the recovery period, it's time to renovate your lingerie closet, ensuring that you do it in the right size: well-adjusted back and underwire to accompany the entire base of the breast, so that it does not press on the implant. You can use different types of bras, depending on your personal style and style of clothing.

This type of surgery, generally, implies a longer recovery. We recommend the use of bras non-wired, both daily and to sleep, for the next two to three months. However, you should consult your doctor, as the recovery time may vary. After that time, you can then start wearing bras Wired, as long as they are the right size and are suitable for the new characteristics of your breasts. In general, the breast with breast reduction has a wider base, compared to the volume, so, to find the most suitable model, you will need specialized help. According to our experience, balconnet style models are ideal in most cases, as they have a more open underwire that will not put pressure on the scar. Attention, the reduced breast can grow back! A bra check-up is still necessary six months after the last visit, or if you have weight changes.

Mastopexy and the Rright Bra
As always happens when it comes to the breast, each case is different, so we will assess during the consultation if your size has changed and what are the best bra shapes for your new breast shape. In this type of surgery, the volume of the breast may remain the same, not changing the size, but only the shape and density of the breast, which will be firmer and higher. This might mean both the use of balconnet bras, like plunge or full cup, the important thing is that they respect and support the breast tissue and that you feel comfortable.

The use of a bra Non-Wired, to be at home and to sleep, is essential during the first months after the surgery, in order to maintain the comfort and the correct support of the breast and to prolong the beauty of your breast. Feeling inclined to do so, you can continue with this practice after the recovery period, helping to preserve the density and firmness of the chest. When exercising, whether low or high impact, do not forget that you will still need a good sports bra, adapted to you, that supports and immobilizes your breasts’ movements. The breast moves in various ways during the practice of sports, movements that, without paying due attention to the use of the correct size and model of a sports bra, may cause Cooper's ligaments to break, contributing to lose the shape achieved with surgery.
